HOW TO MAP YOUR CUSTOM DOMAIN WITH YOUR BLOG

Let us quickly get to our actual topic of discussion ‘mapping a custom domain to your blog’ i won't be only focusing on mapping a custom domain on blogger.com using godaddy.com or other sites domain which I think to me is the simplest and to make it simpler to you. I don’t mind you knowing this better than i, practicalize after reading this is all I want as i always says ‘I use simple language for better understanding of my readers’ therefore simplicity comes first in this blog and then genuineness.

To map your domain to your blog is easy as taking a chill  water after a long trek on the desert, all you need to do is to follow the below steps.
  • Step one: purchase your domain name from godaddy.com because that’s the host we are going to use in this lesson
Now lets assumed i owned a blog already with blogger.com and also owned a custom domain name.
  • Step two: go to your blogger dashboard and click on settings
  • Step three: in your settings page, go to its extreme end and you will see ‘setup a third party domain for this blog’ then click on it/
  • Step four: now type in your custom domain in the space provided (that is the domain name you purchased from godaddy.com) remember to use ‘www’ and don’t type ‘http://’ because its already typed for example just type ‘www.yourdomain.com’ then click on ‘save’ below the box
  • Step five: now after clicking on ‘save’ it will tell you that there is error therefore don’t panic just carefully follow me to the end of this lesson by God’s grace I will guide to finishing.
  • Step Six: go to your godaddy.com account and click on my account
  • Step Seven: now three items will appear in which the second one is ‘my domains’ then click on it
  • Step Eight: now after click on my domains the option will definitely expand and on right hand side you will see another three options among which is ‘Manage DNS’ then click on it
  • step Nine: when you click on “Manage DNS” you will be directed to another page where you access the DNS (Domain System Name) then click on “DNS Zone”
  • Step Ten:  you are now in the DNS zone of your domain then click on “add a record”
  • Step Eleven: a dialogue box appeared when you clicked on add a record. Now on the box in the first option choose “Cname Alias”
  • Step Twelve: now on the host name type in “www” and on the points to type in “ghs.google.com” then click on “add another record”
Now go back to your blogger settings where you tried saving your domain and follow the steps!
  • Step thirteen:  now on the box you tried saving your custom domain copy the first code on host.
  • Step fourteen: now go back to your DNS Zone and paste it to the host and also go back to your blogger settings and copy the second code under “point to” and then paste to “point to” on your DNS zone then click on save.
Now you are done with creating Cname Alias.
  • Step fifteen: on the same DNS Zone click ‘add record’ once more
Note: you will have to use the below IP address to enable the internet finds your blog whenever your url is being typed. You can use these IP address for any domain mapping on godaddy to blogspot:

216.239.32.21
216.239.34.21
216.239.36.21
216.239.38.21
  • Step sixteen: now when you click add record choose the option “Ahost”
  • Step seventeen: on the “host” type in “@” and paste the first IP address on the “point to” Do the same to all IP address.
Note: use “A host” throughout for the four IP Address and then save your work because if you did not save your work it won’t reflect. After saving it may take 1 hour to 2 hours to start working but in most cases it takes 1 hour.

If you are done with the above steps correctly then you are almost done.

Step eighteen: now go back to your blogger setting and click on “save” and I’m sure your custom domain will be saved
  • Step nineteen: this is the second to the last step after saving it click then click on edit
Thanks fortaking your precious time to read ma toturials God bless you.
